Xiaomi held an event on Feb 28 in Delhi to introduce the flagship of its budget smartphone unit Redmi. The Chinese manufacturer introduced Redmi Note 7 Pro and Note 7 as their new budget beasts. Starting from Rs 13,999 for 4GB RAM plus 64GB ROM to Rs 16,999 for 6GB RAM plus 128GB ROM, the new Redmi Note 7 Pro variants will be available by 12 pm on March 13. Simultaneously, Samsung also took its guns out for the budget smartphone segment by launching Galaxy M30 at Rs. 14,990 for base variant of 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and Rs. 17,990 for 6GB RAM with 128GB storage variant. While these two are set to compete in the Indian budget smartphone market, we have a comparison to see which smartphone has the upper hand.

Redmi Note 7 Pro is not anything unexpected in terms of design because of the company’s similar approach for design as Redmi Note 7. With a glass back with Aura Design at the rear end, Note 7 Pro features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ dot-notch display with 1080×2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Impressively, both front and back are protected by 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 5.
The South Korean giant has offered a great competition to last year’s budget smartphone king. The smartphone features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U Full-HD+ display with the water-drop notch. Notably, Samsung has ditched its usual screen aspect ratio of 18:9 to adopt a new 19.5:9 aspect ratio on Galaxy M30.

Under the hood, this smartphone gets Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor that was first launched by Vivo V15 Pro recently. The two RAM options of 4GB and 6GB are coupled with 64GB and 128GB memory respectively. You also get the storage expandability option up to 256GB through a microSD card.
The processing in Samsung is handled by an octa-core Exynos 7904 chipset coupled with similar 4GB/6GB RAM variants and 64/128 GB inbuilt storage options. However, the expansion option through microSD card goes up to 512GB here.

Featuring a dual-SIM (Nano+Nano), the Galaxy M30 runs Samsung Experience v9.5 over the Android 8.1 Oreo. The battery backup of M30 is also ahead of Redmi Note 7 Pro with 5,000mAh onboard. With USB Type-C connectivity, the device has a fingerprint sensor at the back, a fast charging facilitated 15W charge. The two colors available in the market include Gradation Blue and Gradation Black.
