Xiaomi Redmi Note 7

Xiaomi has been the talk of the Indian smartphone market streets in 2018. At the end of the last year, CEO Lin Bin teased a new device with a 48-megapixel camera. Finally, the company has launched an eye-catching entry-level device under the Redmi sub-brand named as Note 7. Let’s get into what the Chinese smartphone maker is offering in the Redmi Note 7.

Redmi Note 7 Highlights: Design and Camera

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7

Remember the recent Mi Play? Redmi Note 7 is quite similar to that in design terms. Boasting a circular display notch, a colorful gradient-holding back panel, rear facing dual cameras as well as rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Notably, one of the two rear cameras is the much-talked 48MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture alongside another 5MP lens available for depth information.

To explain the highlighted camera a bit more, it can basically shoot photos with 48 million tiny 0.8-micron pixels, giving the image more depth and quality in good lighting. You can also put it in front of a 12-MP device clicking with 1.6-micron pixels. Going on half-an-inch across, the camera sensor is quite big compared to a typical smartphone shooter, which means it should have high light-gathering ability. Of course, hardware can only define half the story of a camera and we still have to wait for the software in order to mark it.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun last week said that Redmi will no longer be operated by Xiaomi. While the will still be owned by Xiaomi, the operations will be independent.  Redmi will centralize on e-commerce and cost efficiency whereas Xiaomi will focus on mid-to-high-end smartphones and physical retail. Redmi smartphones have been widely appreciated in the Indian market. The company has not been in concerns with the name previously but now Note 7 will have a logo at the back quoting “Redmi by Xiaomi.”

Redmi Note 7 will be available in 2 different variants. The first one will be a 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM device and will be priced at 999 yuan (about $150/Rs. 10,000). Notably, now we have three 48MP camera smartphones with Honor View 20 and  Huawei Nova 4 as the other two.
