Xiaomi held an event in China yesterday where it finally launched the much anticipated Mi Band 4. The next generation of Mi band features a color AMOLED display protected by a 2.5D curved glass. With AMOLED display, support for watch faces arrives in the band. Xiaomi also announced a range of wrist band options aimed to match different users with different tastes. To monitor physical actives on the move, Mi Band 4 sports a six-axis accelerometer sensor. Payment support is also added in the band backed by Alipay from Alibaba. The Mi Band 3 successor will go on sale in China later this month. Xiaomi has kept the global pricing and availability details for Mi Band 4 hidden for now but we expect it to get it out on the Indian market soon.

Xiaomi Mi Band 4 Price

The pricing for Mi Band 4 starts from CNY 169 that roughly translates to Rs. 1,700. There is an NFC edition priced at CNY 299 that roughly means Rs. 2,300. Xiaomi also launched a limited edition Mi Band 4 Avengers Series out with three different bands with superhero watch faces from Marvel. These special Avengers package will cost CNY 349 in China which is equivalent to Rs. 3,500. The sale in the home market for Mi Band 4 will begin on June 16 whereas there are no details revealed about the Mi Band 4 global pricing.

If we go back to the last year, Mi Band 3 was launched first in China at CNY 169 in May and it debuted in India at the equivalent price of Rs 1,999 in India in September.

To start off, the Mi Band 4 moves a step ahead from its last generation of OLED display and a smaller resolution with a 0.95-inch AMOLED color panel with 120X240 pixels resolution and a 2.5D glass protection. On top of that, the new model has a built-in microphone for voice commands and supports touch inputs.

With a six-axis accelerometer under the hood, Xiaomi claims to monitor a number of physical activities easily including exercising, cycling, walking, and swimming. Being a 5 ATM rated device, it can identify distinct swimming strokes such as breaststroke, freestyle, backstroke, mixed-style, and butterfly. It will display a swolf score for users to measure their swimming efficiency.

SWOLF is an abbreviation for “Swim Golf” , and is ascore obtained by adding together your strokes per length, and the time for the length. e.g. 25 yards swim at 30 seconds in 20 strokes is a SWOLF score of 50

With an integrated payment mode in Mi Band 4, users can now make payments on-the-go by swiping the screen and showing the QR code.

There’s a built-in microphone in Mi Band 4 that enables it to receive voice commands. During its presentation, Xiaomi revealed that Mi Band 4 can be used to control compatible devices using voice commands.

Mi Band 4 is capable of providing notifications of new texts and voice calls like its previous generations along with the information about physical activities on the AMOLED display. You can also switch the music or find your phone using just a tap on the new Mi Band 4 panel. It will also include live weather and other stock updates.

The new Xiaomi device can sport six sports modes, 77 colorful watch faces, and everything else that was available on the previous generations of Mi Bands. The wrist band is also claimed to deliver an impressive 20 days of usage on a single charge.
