Xiaomi’s MI Band lineup is manufactured by a company named Huami. In an event of calling quarterly earnings, Huami announced that the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 will be releasing later this year.
The news came after David Cui, Chief Financial Officer of Huami, gave a statement on it. When asked if Mi Band 4 will arrive in March or April 2019, he denied and replied that the next creation of the Mi Band series will arrive later this year.
Transcribing earnings call, Motley Fool Cui said, “For Mi Band 4, it’s going to be in this year. It will be in 2019. But I’m not sure, it’s going to be in March and April. But, it is going to be in this year.”
Mi Band 4 Features
The discussion by the executive was around the fact that how Mi Band line has always carried new features in every new release and how this year will be no exception at all. This implies that Mi Band 4 will carry all the features from its predecessors along with a bunch of new features.
Cui said, “Each generation we learn something, we always do better. And [for] Mi Band 3 — you can take a look at 2018’s volume, right. So it’s really much better as compared to the previous version. So we expect Mi Band 4 will have a similar trend. So once we launch Mi Band 4, we expect that product will sell well.”
As per the call, Amazfit and Xiaomi Mi Band products, both built by Huami, are performing great in the markets around the globe. The call revealed that Huami accerelated the revenues by a huge 78% in 2018. The primary success came with Amazfit smartwatch sales and then the profits were led by Mi Band 3 last year.
Cui further added, “Right now, Mi Band 3 is still hot sale; is still [selling] really, really well. The margin is not shrinking, the shipments are not shrinking. So we will work with Xiaomi to pick the right time to launch Mi Band 4 in the year.”
