Uber has always been ahead of its competitors in applying new things to the business, which made it the world’s number one ride booking app. The recent move from Uber came yesterday when the company launched Uber Vouchers to allow businesses to sponsor transportation for their employees or customers. This new feature will let a business firm to offer free or heavily discounted Uber rides for its employees or customers.

Uber’s new feature came just a few days after the announcement of initial public offering (IPO) of the ride-hailing company later this month.

Ronnie Gurion, General Manager and Global Head of Uber for Business said, “With the international launch of this feature, Uber’s goal is to unlock an additional growth lever for businesses by creating an innovative way to bring customers to their door or wherever they need to go. As companies look for new technology and novel ways to engage with consumers, Vouchers provide a perk that businesses know their customers will use.”

The approach is quite good since many businesses that still depend on rentals or shuttle services for their employees can now use Uber. Moreover, businesses like bars and restaurants can offer ride discounts to a potential customer looking to reach them. Also, sports teams can offer discounts to fans on match days.

How To Use Uber Voucher?

It’s easy for businesses to use the Voucher feature. They can create custom Vouchers campaigns and programs that will have set parameters such as specific pick-up and drop-off locations, certain budget. They can set time for the offer in case it’s an event or promotion and everything will be managed through a web dashboard.

Once a business is done creating a Voucher program, it can send the custom Vouchers to intended customers with whatever way they like such as social media, mobile messaging, via email, etc. Companies will only pay for the rides redeemed using the Voucher feature plus any extra administrative fee.

When a rider receives a Voucher, the offer will be added automatically to his or her Uber app as soon as the rider clicks the redeem link. A voucher will stay in the Uber app until it expires or closed manually by the provider. The customers will get the Voucher added in their Uber account directly. In case you don’t own a Uber account, the Voucher redeems link will take you to the app store and ask you to download the app to ride at a discount.

The dedicated dashboard will let businesses keep track of how many Vouchers are redeemed or used. Dashboard availability lets business owners streamline reporting and billing.

The Vouchers are developed on Uber for Business (U4B) platform. Being beta tested with more than 100 partners worldwide, the feature will go live in most of the countries including India where Uber operates.
