Known for its impeccable camera phones, Sony has been out of the smartphone frame for quite a while now. However, the company started sending invites for MWC 2019 last month indicating that we might be in for a new flagship smartphone Xperia XZ4. Rumors about the device are on the internet from months but we will hopefully see the return of Xperia at Mobile World Congress 2019, taking place later this month in Barcelona, Spain.
The number of rumors about the yet-to-be-announced smartphone has seen a heavy rise in the past few weeks. However, the latest leaked information may just have revealed everything that consumers need to know about a high-end smartphone.
Sony Xperia XZ4 Specs
A report from Gizmochina confirmed that Sony Xperia XZ4 recently came to the Chinese certification agency TENAA. According to the reports, the smartphone will be a top-tier device featuring a 6.4-inch OLED display with 1440×3360 pixels resolution and a highlighted extra-tall aspect ratio of 21:9.
The reports also claimed that the device will be powered by a Qualcomm’s newest high-end Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor cloaking at 2.84GHz. Note that, this SoC will be powering a majority of upcoming Android flagship devices which is confirmed by several smartphone brands. The smartphone will further depend on an 8GB RAM for performance. It will reportedly have 256GB of internal storage onboard that will come alongside support for the microSD card for memory extension. If this turns out the case, then this listing might be quoting a top variant of the smartphone since the previous rumors suggested that the device will have 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. The obvious operating system on the device will be Android 9.0 Pie and the whole setup will get juice from a 3,680mAh battery.
The most interesting information came in the imaging department where TENAA listing revealed a major upgrade that can beat big players of the game. The Sony Xperia XZ4 is reportedly getting triple rear sensors and the primary lens among the three will be a 52MP Sony sensor. Along with that, the customers will have a 26-megapixel lens alongside a third 8MP snapper. Since Sony is known for its camera phones, this can be a huge upset for other companies releasing smartphones with heavy cameras. The front of the device will also sport a 24MP shooter for selfies and video calls.
Sony XA3 also coming with the extra 21:9 aspect ratio
Another render leak for another Sony device also claimed a display with 21:9 aspect ratio. The upcoming mid-range Sony XA3 rumored to get a 5.9-inch display and 2560×1080 pixel resolution is also expected to launch in the event. Rumored to get Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, the new device will reportedly compete against the budget-friendly Android flagships such as OnePlus 6T and Honor View 20. It will reportedly have 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage with 3500 mAh battery. There is another rumored device coming at the MWC-2019 from Sony, which will be a maxed out version of XA3 named Xperia XA3 Ultra.
