Samsung has already launched a number of devices this year and we have not even reached the mid-2019 yet. Unsurprisingly, Samsung on Wednesday launched a new device, Galaxy A80, in an event in Thailand. The new smartphone carries a full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with a rotating 48MP primary camera as the two major highlights of the device. Moreover, it has a Dolby Atmos audio integration, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and runs Android 9 Pie.
The rotating 48MP sensor comes as its biggest highlight making it a matchless display smartphone and offering users a high-resolution camera for selfies after rotation. Other than that, we have something named ‘intelligent battery’ according to Samsung, which learns user behavior and optimize battery life accordingly. The device also comes with a 25W ‘Super-Fast Charging’ technology. Let’s get into Samsung Galaxy A80 release dates, specifications, price, and more.
Samsung Galaxy A80 Price, Release Date
So here we have another budget flagship device. Yes, the devices that fall around 40k-50k but compete with flagships. Released at EUR 649 which translates to roughly around Rs 50,500, the company said that Galaxy A80 will come in three color variants including Ghost White, Angel Gold, and Phantom Black. The device will go on sale starting May 29 across global markets including Russia, Middle East. Asia, China, Australia, Hong Kong, Europe, and New Zealand. We can expect the price in India to be similar to Europe but there is no word about an India release from Samsung.
The launch event also saw Samsung announcing the availability of the Samsung Galaxy A70 that it revealed last week. The Galaxy A70 will be available starting April 26 in Blue, White, Black, and Coral colors.
Samsung Galaxy A80 Specifications
The new dual-SIM Samsung Galaxy A80 comes with the company’s own One UI on top of Android 9.0 Pie. It features a 6.7-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED ‘New Infinity Display’ with 1080×2400 pixels of resolution, a 20:9 aspect ratio, and no notch. The newly unveiled Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC with an octa-core processor drives the software of this smartphone. With two cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six cores clocked at 1.7GHz, the device has 8GB of RAM with 128GB onboard storage and comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Let’s get to the most talked rotating camera. The whole unit features a triple camera setup including a 48MP primary sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, a secondary 8MP ultra wide-angle lens with an f/2.2 aperture and covering up to 123-degrees, and the last one is a 3D depth sensor. The unique part starts for selfies. When prompted for selfie mode, we can see three cameras automatically popping-up and rotating to the front. The camera app also has some extra features such as Flaw Detection, Super Steady video mode, and Scene Optimizer with detection for 30 scenes.
Another much-talked feature, ‘intelligent battery’, has a power of 3,700mAh that has what Samsung claims Super-Fast charging support. It optimizes the smartphone to enhance its performance using AI. There is Bixby, Samsung Pay, Samsung Knox, and Samsung Health available as an extra set of features.
