Camera madness is not new in smartphone users and Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) is Samsung’s first attempt to sway in triple rear camera phones. Galaxy A7 was launched in India yesterday and set to go on its first flash sale for two variants competing with the likes of Oppo F9 Pro, Poco F1 Vivo V11 Pro, Huawei Honor 10, Asus ZenFone 5Z and all other devices riding the 25k-30k segment. Samsung Electronics has priced 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM variant at Rs 23,600 whereas, 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM variant at Rs 28,990. The phone will go on sale on 27 September and 28 September on Flipkart, Samsung Opera House, and their own online store. After this, the phone will be available on open sale.
The triple camera setup was first introduced by Huawei in P20 Pro. HMD Global is also bringing triple camera setup in its next Nokia labeled Nokia 7 with some interesting changes. Now the South Korean manufacturer is ready to sell its first triple camera setup smartphone. Here we have all the specifications of the new Samsung Galaxy A7(2018).
Design and Quality
When you spend 25k in an Indian market for a phone today, then chances are that you will have a premium looking device in hand. Samsung Electronics has failed to impress here with no such premium feel in Galaxy A7 (2018). Though it is a good looking device, with three color variants including blue, black, and gold. The smartphone is 7.5mm thick and weighs a bit heavier at 168g as compared to others. One notable thing is that A7 is wider than all its siblings from A series. A quiet reflective glass is a bit low-quality one that easily picks blemishes. The right side has accurately placed power button along with the volume buttons whereas left side has got two Nano-SIM slots and one dedicated micro SD card slot.
Hardware and Software
The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) flaunts a 6-inch Super AMOLED full-HD+ display with 1080×2220 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The Infinity Display (named by Samsung) has sharp viewing angels and impressive color reproduction. Interestingly, Samsung has avoided a notch in the Galaxy A7.
The phone will be powered by Exynos 7885 processor clocking at 2.2GHz. This might turn out to be a weakness as Exynos is developed by Samsung itself whereas its rivals rely on powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC processor. The phone will have two variants as mentioned above. Besides that, one of the biggest drawbacks will be Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box for the Galaxy A7. Where its rivals are buzzing up with Android 9.0 Pie, Samsung is not even offering Android 8.1. There will be a 3,300 mAh battery, which will be enough with super customized Samsung Experience 9.0 UX on top.
The biggest highlight of the new Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) will be its triple rear camera setup. The phone will have a 24-megapixel shooter with f/1.7 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with f/2.4 aperture, and a 5-megapixel depth, fixed-focus lens with f/2.2 aperture. The most impressive one among all the three will be 8MP ultra-wide shooter, that will have a 120-degree view field. The phone will also have a 24-megapixel front camera with LED flash. The fixed-focus front shooter will have a f/2.0 aperture.
Samsung is trying hard to capture the market between its Galaxy S and Galaxy J series. Though the new Galaxy A7 (2018) is impressive on paper, it will be interesting to see how it performs in the highly competitive price segment.
