While some of you still couldn’t believe, the news is absolutely correct– Samsung has officially released a top-end flip smartphone. The new device is named W2019 and like its predecessor, it will also be available in China and just a few countries first.

The new Samsung flagship phone will cost you over $2,700 USD.

Samsung Flip Phone W2019 Specifications

The new flagship device weighs around 257g which is very high for a smartphone. The device has a 4.2-inch Super AMOLED screen with 1920 x 1080 pixels of resolution. Even with a compact size, the smartphone manages to pack dual-camera setup of double 12MP lenses on the rear. The front-facing sensor is also an 8MP snapper with decent selfies.

As you should expect in any Samsung flagship device, the phone has a dedicated smart digital assistant Bixby. As per the product images and videos, the smartphone comes without a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone will support the in-trend Type -C charging which will also be the port for data and audio transfer. The device comes with 132.9 x 63.4 x 17.3mm dimensions. The Samsung W2019 will also own a fairly powerful 3,070 mAh battery for a 4.2-inch screen.

Coming at the processing unit, you get the flagship processor Snapdragon 845 from Qualcomm in the device that is power-driven by a 6GB RAM coupled with two storage options including 128GB and 256GB. The phone will also support external memory expansion through microSD. The device will run on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.

Samsung has managed to add a side-mounted fingerprint sensor with a number of other features other than unlocking the device. Users will have 960fps super slow-motion through the rear camera and the device will also support dual-SIM.

Samsung W2019 Price and Availability

Some concierge features of the device will hardly justify the unexpected price of the device $2,732 USD. These features include an exclusive hotline, phone disinfection, and few software fixes. Not only that, but Galaxy S9 maker also announced free battery and screen replacements twice a year. The experts were speculating the price to be around $1,400 which turned out to be double. It will be interesting to see how a smartphone with such configuration ended up with a double price tag just for being a flip phone.

The sales for the smartphone opened through China Unicom yesterday on November 11th. The device is currently out in Platinum and Rose Gold. Any other color variants are not expected yet. The sleek in-hand experience of the Samsung flip phone will also get a Collector’s edition made of wood and other natural materials.
