The Oppo sub-brand is ready to release its new device Realme U1 in India on November 28. Notably, the new smartphone will be first to get and launch Helio P70 SoC from MediaTek.

Announced last month, the latest MediaTek chip is an upgrade over the previous Helio P60 SoC. Realme U1 will be “first to launch” the new MediaTek chipset but the device is already listed on with a tagline quoting the handset as a “selfie-pro”.

According to the listing on Amazon India, Realme U1 will boast the “most powerful selfie camera ever”. However, the camera resolution and aperture size of the front-facing snapper is yet to be revealed. With the likes of Google Pixel 3, Apple iPhone XS, and Samsung A8, it is hard to believe that statement without analyzing the sensor.

Realme U1 Exclusive on

The Amazon India has listed Realme U1 launch on November 28 at 12:30 pm. Suggesting that the new smartphone will feature a premium selfie camera, the listing also shows that Realme U1 will have a waterdrop-notch display that’s quite similar to many new smartphones such as the recently launched Android flagship OnePlus 6T starting at ₹ 37,999.

Moreover, the device will have a bunch of new improvements with the new chipset MediaTek Helio P70 including fast multi-frame noise reduction, accurate AI detection, anti-blooming engine, and high-resolution depth engine. While you might have a similar display and may be similar cameras in other smartphones too, the uniqueness will come from the chipset. Over that, Realme U1 price will also affect the smartphone to some extent.

New MediaTek helio P70 Chip

The new chipset from MediaTek was uncovered last month named Helio P70 that hosts an Octa-core SoC working on the 12nm FinFET process from TSMC. Breaking the assembly, you will have four ARM Cortex-A73 cores clocking at a speed of 2.1 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocking at 2.0 GHz. These all will work alongside an ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. The Chinese chipset maker claims that Helio P70 will have a 13 percent boost over its predecessor Helio P60 SoC. The new chip has been optimized for a lower frame-rate jitter as well as better latency for visual graphics and touch controls.

Realme U1 Expected Camera Functionality

The smartphone will definitely feature an AI-camera and new processor will bring in new features such as real-time beautification, augmented reality applications, and scene detection. There will be an improved deep-learning facial detection with an accuracy rate of up to 90 percent. It will be interesting to see how well the new SoC supports the camera.

The new MediaTek processor supports up to 32-MP of a single or 24MP and 16MP of dual camera setup on the rear end. The feature list also includes three independent ISPs (Image Signal Processor) pushing up to 18 percent reduced power consumption in camera usage than previous Helio dual-camera setups.

Realme U1 will be the first device to host all these features. There is also a new U-Series in line from the smartphone company as announced last week. With that being said, we are yet to see Realme U1 specifications and price.
