Oppo just launched its first R series device in India with the triple rear camera. The phone is expected to compete with many flagship Android devices. The competitive Indian market had many options in the mid-range premium flagship devices before the launch of Oppo R17 Pro. The 8GB RAM + 128GB device comes with an edge-to-edge display and dewdrop notch. This smartphone comes with the company’s Super VOOC technology for fast charging and costs Rs. 45,999 in the Indian space.
Given its price, the Oppo smartphone is competing with the likes of OnePlus 6T and Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) in the local market, whereas a mid-range flagship Poco F1 also competes with the device in terms of specifications that includes a Snapdragon 845 chipset and dual rear camera.
So which one among these is should replace your current device? The AppsToFollow team is here with a comparison of all these devices to see whether Oppo R17 fares well against these already established devices on different grounds including specifications, price, and features.
Oppo R17 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) vs OnePlus 6T vs Poco F1: Design and Display
The new Oppo R17 Pro sports a 6.4-inch FHD+ panel with 91.5 percent screen-to-body ratio and 19:9 aspect ratio. The highlight of the display comes as the dewdrop style notch that is one of the smallest on any device. Moreover, the whole panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. The “3D fog glass”- rear back design named by the company, reflects different under diverse lighting conditions. It will also release in green and mist colors.
Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) holds a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED panel and there is no extra feature, unlike other smartphones. With a fingerprint display on the top, this device has an Infinity display without a notch. The Samsung phone sports metal frames around a glass back design. Available only in gradient option, the device feels premium. You can never argue over a Samsung device in terms of a premium look.
Coming to the OnePlus 6T, it features a 6.2-inch Full HD+ display The AMOLED panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 6. There’s a rectangular notch on the 19.9 screen aspect ratio. This too features a fingerprint sensor integrated inside the display. However, the rectangular notch is quite big as compared to Oppo R17 Pro. The glass back design of the phone with gradient effect feels premium & classy. Though the phone feels easy on the hands, we still recommend a back cover for extra protection.
The last device is Poco F1, which sports the smallest 6.1. inch display. Though the display is full HD+, a plastic polycarbonate body, unlike others, leaves it behind others. The rectangular top notch like OnePlus 6T again disappoints in the design. But not to forget it has a very low price as compared to any others and the screen still manages to impress.
Winner: Samsung A9 (2018) & Oppo R17Pro

Oppo R17 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) vs OnePlus 6T vs Poco F1: Camera
The camera battle gets deep with all the smartphones competing with their best offerings of the sensors. Though the practical difference can only be told on usage, we will roll down camera specifications every phone offers on-paper with some technical details.
With a triple-rear camera on the rear and 25MP shooter at the front, Oppo R17 Pro has the ability to adjust light settings to enhance photography performance. The dual aperture on 12MP sensor among the three has this light adjust the setting. There is a 20MP sensor along with that and a third Time of Flight snapper completes the triple camera setup. The detailed pictures are rich with colors and can keep most camera users happy.
Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) push the camera game one level up with a four-camera setup at the rear end that includes a combination of 24MP primary shooter, 8MP 120-degree wide-angle lens, 10MP telephoto sensor, and 5MP depth sensing shooter. Though people might think that four cameras from a company like Samsung should never be questioned but the photos demand a lot at this price range. The clicks are good but not exceptional. There’s a 24MP selfie snapper at the front which produces quality pictures.
A dual rear camera including 16MP+20MP with electronic image stabilization (EIS) and optical image stabilization (OIS) on both lenses makes OnePlus 6T incredible at the rear camera shooting. Color reproduction is natural and unlike most smartphones with these technologies, photos never feel over processed. There is also a 16MP front camera available offering nice depth to the selfies.
Poco F1 stays back in this segment but justifies the quality looking at the price range. It has a dual-camera setup including the 12MP shooter and 5MP sensor. The clicks feel decent in both indoors as well as daylight conditions. The front camera snaps with 20MP sensor and impresses enough to compete with other mentioned devices here.
