Smartphone companies are on a roll with beautiful beasts lined up for release from the likes of Samsung, Huawei, and HMD Global’s Nokia. While some handsets, such as the rumored Nokia 9 PureView, try to stand out with their camera, some try to capture the low-budget market with moderate specifications. One more tech giant that has been absent from the smartphone limelight lately is LG.

However, the South Korean company has made the headlines again with rumors of a new 5G smartphone in 2019. There have been various rumors going around about LG lately, but the latest one has revealed a different picture.

A report coming from ET News has quoted that a new 5G smartphone from LG is lined up in a new smartphone series, possibly dropping in April 2019. This has suggested that the rumored forthcoming LG G8 won’t be the company’s first 5G device.

Additionally, the reports also suggested that the new 5G smartphone will be seen in the US, Korean, and the European markets. The new report has totally dismissed the news of a 5G smartphone in January 2019 from LG. Company’s main aim is to revive its waning market and for that it might be planning to launch a completely new series of smartphones with 5G support.

Commenting on the concerned question about a new 5G smartphone, an LG official said, “LG Electronics is not discussing the 5G smartphone as a G-series, but a new brand is being discussed.”
The reports further suggested that before the 5G smartphone series launch, LG is expected to introduce a mid-range device LG Q9 in January during CES 2019 and an android flagship LG G8 in February during MWC 2019.

Any rumors about the LG G8 are yet to surface on the internet. The most hyped rumor about it was 5G support which is turning out to be wrong. However, the LG Q9 is pretty much out with the whole spec sheet. Rumored to be a mid-range device, the LG Q9 is likely to have 4GB RAM alongside 128 Gigs of internal storage. The device will reportedly run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC with a 3,000mAh battery juice.

In addition, LG is also speculated to get into the foldable smartphone zone. A leaked patent about the company revealed that we might see a new foldable device from the smartphone manufacturer in the third quarter of 2019.

There is, however, no confirmation on any of the above-mentioned news as we still lack concrete evidence. To know more about LG’s plan for 2019, keep following AppsToFollow on social channels.
