Huawei rolled out for new variants of Mate 20 series at the event. These devices were possibly the second most talked smartphone lineup after Apple’s new iPhones. The four new phones are here named-  the Mate 20, the Mate 20 Pro, the Porsche Design Mate 20 RS and the Mate 20X. As expected, they are ready to steal the limelight of the smartphone world for a while. Let’s have a look at the specifications of the devices.

Price and Availability

The new Huawei Mate 20 series will soon go on sale in countries including France, UK, Italy, and the UAE.

Both the smartphones will be hitting high-end smartphone market competing with the likes of Samsung Galaxy and Apple iPhones. Mate 20 will be available in two variants including 4GB/128GB which is priced at EUR 799 and 6GB/128GB which will have a price tag of EUR 849. Whereas, Mate 20 Pro will only come in a 6GB/128GB variant with a price tag of EUR 1049. Huawei followers don’t have to wait much as both these devices have started shipping on 16 October.

Display

The Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro respectively flaunt displays of 6.53-inch and 6.39-inch set on a resolution of 1080 x 2244p and 1440 x 3120p. You have HDR 10 enabled displays that are also certified YouTube flagship devices on both the smartphones. The Mate 20 Pro is more premium and set on a higher price bar and that’s why features an AMOLED display in front of Mate 20’s IPS LCD.

There’s a notch available in both devices bigger than Huawei P20. These devices have a 3D Face Unlock feature similar to Apple’s 3D Face ID. The biggest thing is that Huawei has introduced in-display fingerprint scanner in all the four new devices of Mate 20 series.

Processor

Huawei is known for its own Kirin processors and Mate 20 series marks the debut of their newly built 7 nm Octa-core Kirin 980 SoC. Huawei has promised to bring improved efficiency and better performance with new dual-AI processors on the chip. These AI processors are built to handle numerous real-time computing tasks without any performance lags. The smartphones also have full support Google Augmented Reality platform ARCore.

The new series will also be the first one to work with EMUI 9 built by Huawei and based on Android Pie 9.0.

Cameras

Welcome to another triple-lens setup. Mate 20 has a 16MP ultra-wide lens with f/2.2, a wide-angle 12 MP shooter with markings f/1.8, and finally an 8MP telephoto snapper with f/2.4 and 2X optical zoom. A bright dual-tone LED flash completes the setup.

Talking about Mate 20 Pro, it features an amazing 40 MP f/1.8 wide-angle shooter, a 20 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle lens and an 8 MP f/2.4 telephoto snapper with an ability of 5X hybrid zoom or 3X optical zoom. All the sensors show a combined ISO sensitivity of 1,02,400 which is the highest value recorded for a smartphone on paper.

Both the phones sport a f/2.0 24 MP selfie camera. Back cameras are also designed to scan 3D objects to create animated gifs and even record videos.

Battery and Wireless Charging

The Mate 20 gets a big battery unit of 4,200 mAh while the Mate 20 Pro flaunts a 4,000 mAh battery unit. These massive batteries are charged with 40 W superchargers capable of filling either phone up to 75 percent in 30 minutes.

Porsche Design Mate 20 RS

Just like its name, Porsche Design Mate 20 RS looks like a small race car built with premium materials. Expect the design and RAM+storage, the whole smartphone carries all the specifications of Mate 20. The Porsche Design Mate 20 RS will be available in two variants where the first one will flaunt an 8GB RAM and 256 GB storage while the other one will have 8 GB RAM with 512 GB storage. It will be available in two colors- black and red just like the Porsche car.

Huawei Mate 20X

The Mate 20X is considerably different and more worked around device than the other three.  It comes with a waterdrop-style notch on a huge 7.2-inch OLED display. Huawei claimed that Mate 20X has the highest screen-to-body ratio among all the Huawei-made smartphone. Mate 20X is more of a gaming-oriented device available priced at EUR 899 for its only variant of 6GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage. The product will be shipped on 26 October.

While having a similar processor of other Mate devices, the smartphone does feature a massive 5,000 mAh battery along with a dual-cooling system installed inside and a camera setup identical to Mate 20 Pro. The 20X supports the company’s separately and also features dual-speakers. It will be available in two beautiful colors- Midnight Blue and Phantom Silver.
