Google Pixel 3 XL Already on Sale in A Hong Kong Store

Google is going to host the big Pixel event tomorrow where it will supposedly announce the new Pixel 3 XL. However, the level of leaks reached to a ridiculous height yesterday when a Hong Kong-based journalist Richard Lai reported that a local mobile store there is selling the unannounced Google Pixel 3 XL. The Engadget’s writer just walked into the store and tried it out. He confirmed the news by posting pictures of the device on Twitter.

According to the reports, Lai didn’t purchase the device himself, but the shop was reportedly selling it for $2,300. The writer though completed a thorough hands-on with Google Pixel 3 XL.

The previous leaks might be a bit of skepticism but the phone appearing in the images looked as real as a new Google Pixel can be. Lai reported that the phone he checked had the rumored display of 6.3 inches boasting a sizable notch. It had a 12.2 MP primary shooter and a two 8MP snappers in the front. There have been rumors rounding internet from past week about Google offering an optimized selfie camera in the new device.

Lai reported that the phone was packed with a pair of USB-C type headphones. This makes sense since Google had received a significant amount of backlash for not including any headphones in the box with Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

Lai’s reports have added another chapter to the type of leaks that have happened in recent times. A number of varying photos of Google Pixel 3 XL have been making rounds of the social media for weeks. Surprisingly, many of them look just like the phone reported by Lai. What was more surprising and more like a ridiculous claim is that a passenger left Pixel 3 XL in a Lyft cab. The unboxing video of the device was posted by a Ukrainian blogger. Not only that, a third-party retailer even listed it on its web store even before its announcement.

Other rumored specifications of the new smartphone from search engine giant include a massive 6 GB RAM coupled with a 64GB internal storage. The display is accurately supposed to be 6.71-inches flaunting a resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels. It is supposed to run on the all-new Android 9 Pie powered with an octa-core processor with a combination of Kyro 385+ and Kyro 385 cloaking at a speed of 2.8GHz and 1.8GHz respectively. The phone will have a battery 3430 mAh along with a handful of sensors. We might see some AI usage in the camera.

The phone is on the hype from quite a while and leaks like this one might negatively hurt the sales of the new device. The good news for Google is that the incident happened just a couple of days before the big Pixel event.
