It is surprising enough to hear that Energizer is selling smartphones. Who knew that the company will be shocking everyone with news of 26 new models at Mobile World Congress 2019. Over that, who knew that most of these devices will have flagship-level features (even better than most of the flagship devices) such as the battery power of 18,000mAh, a foldable display, and pop-up cameras. As weird as it sounds, the smartphone models with pop-up cameras are nothing less than giant batteries, but somehow, even that is looking incredible- all praises to Energizer. Now, before you think that a super smartphone is on the way, all these features are in different smartphones.

The New Devices Specifications

A report coming from 9to5Google claimed that the company works on four lines of phones including Ultimate, Power Max, Hardcase, and Energy. Most of the devices in the upcoming 26 new models will be part of the Hardcase and Energy lines. One device will feature in Power Max lines that will have 18,000mAh battery (largest ever in a phone followed by Power Max P16K Pro with 16,000mAh capacity from the same company). Some devices that will feature in the Ultimate line will have features like teardrop notch displays and pop-up cameras.

The Ultimate phone line will reportedly be a more premium one. Though there is not much known about the phone specs, there is little detail out about Ultimate devices. According to GSM Arena, Energizer ultimate U620S Pop and U630S Pop will be power driven by MediaTek Helio P70 and P22 chipsets respectively. Both the devices will have motorized pop-up dual cameras of 16MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth lens.

U620S Pop will have a triple camera setup. Other than a 16MP and a 2MP lens, it will have a 5MP wide-angle sensor. Along with that, the U620S Pop will have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

While the U620S Pop is releasing in July, the U630S Pop will release in June with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory.

We still don’t know how an 18,000mAh-battery device will look like or how a foldable display device will turn out to be. But our guess is that it will be very much like the world’s first foldable device Royole’s FlexPai. This device has been a big foldable flop but it gave people the overview of how a foldable display turns out. We are in doubts that Energizer will release a Samsung-level foldable device.

The reason behind low expectations is the French manufacturer of the devices Avenir Telecom. The company has been selling low-spec devices for years now under the Energizer license. Being a small company, Avenir is doing something unexpected by making edge-to-edge displays and pop-up camera designs. This says a lot the future of smartphone innovation and upcoming competition of smartphone market.
