It has just been over a year since watch OS 4 rolled down on the wrists of Apple lovers but the problem with ever-changing technology is that it gets old in no time. What’s good, is that Apple is back with the new and final version of watchOS 5 in their Apple Watch 4 series.
The Initial Rumors
Apple Watch 3 came in with a strong software and sturdy build topping the best smartwatch charts and leaving our expectations high for the next update. The rumors are suggesting that Apple Watch 4 will be released with a larger screen and bigger battery. But what else it will offer? Let us have a look.
Within a few hours, Apple will be unveiling the Watch 4 officially in California. Before that, there are numerous leaks are taking rounds of the internet. According to the rumors, the watch will make its way in either 38mm or 42mm in Silver, Gold, or Space Grey colors. The customers will have the choice of stainless steel or aluminum. The watches will be out with a wide variety of straps similar to the old ones.
A previous rumor suggested that the Apple Watch 4 will have an edge-to-edge display along with a better resolution. According to the reports from 9to5mac, Apple Watch 4 will boast a resolution of 384 x 480. Comparing it to Apple Watch 3’s 312 x 390, it will be 15% bigger and sharper.
However, all these leaks might be incorrect after the leaks witnessed on Apple’s official websites. 9to5mac can be right about one thing: the larger screen. Guilherme Rambo, the writer from 9to5mac explained how he found the following image. Rambo gave the statement that “They came from the recap section of the special event website. I used the URL pattern from the last event and guessed the device’s names. Apple took them down immediately after we published”.
Now if we analyze the image shared on 9to5Mac, it doesn’t look like any of the previous ones. The existing Apple Watches come with a fair amount of bezel around the screen. The above image though looks fresh and something never before from Apple.
Apple Watch 4 Release Date
It will be certainly the event on September 12, which is later today. There are clear signs that Apple Watch 4 will be making its way alongside the next Apple iPhone models. The watches will likely have four variants including LTE, Non-LTE, and two different sized models. While September 12 looks the perfect date for them to move to the market, they might choose a Friday as history speaks about how Apple likes Friday launches.
Apple Watch 4 Price
There is not much hype about the prices of Apple Watch 4 Series, but they will fall somewhere same around Apple Watch 3 series. The start may be from $329/ AU$459 for the 38mm versions. The prices may go higher with the bigger size or the LTE supported models.
Apple Watch 4 Design and Features
The KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported in July this year that we might see a 1.57-inch display for the smaller variant and 1.78-inch for the large one. The Apple will likely use faster and versatile circuit boards for these versions to power up the antenna. This will result in a more stable LTE connectivity. There are also predictions of a new chipset named Apple S4. Apple has hinted that it might bring Face ID camera to the watches making it more secure wearable. The biggest change will be seen in the fitness section where Apple likes to invest smartly. The Apple Watch 4 is suggested to get an upgrade in heart rate tracker embracing the EKG technology. We might have to wait a few more hours to know how true these rumors turn out to be.
