iPhone and iPad users in India can now update their iOS version to 12.2 as Apple has rolled out its iOS 12.2 update in India with a number of new features including the ability to use Siri for content casting to Apple TV from your device, four new Animojis, and support for 2nd gen AirPods.
The update also carried out a number of software improvements and bug fixes. Initially rolling out on March 25 globally after the Apple TV event, the update was in the news majorly for the Apple News app addition. Notably, Apple News is only available in the US and still hasn’t reached India.
How To Update To iOS 12.2?
To update your Apple device to iOS 12.2, you need an adequate internet connection. The update is around 841.2MB and we recommend you to download the update after fully charging your device. iOS 12.2 and Siri
First thing’s first, you can skip the point if you don’t have an Apple TV. For those who do, you can now simply ask Siri on your mobile device to play any show you want and it will be played on Apple TV without you touching anything.
iOS 12.2 and new Animoji
Apple has introduced four new Animojis in the iPhone X, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and iPhone XS users. The new Animoji collection including owl, bear, giraffe, and shark will also come to the 3rd gen iPad Pro 12.9-inch and iPad Pro 11-inch.
iOS 12.2 and AirPlay
The new update also brings dedicated TV control buttons in the Control Centre and the Lock Screen of all the iOS devices. This is to enable quick access to TV controls. Moreover, the update will let users multitask along with AirPlay. While AirPlay destination will have a type-wise content grouping for easy access, the users can browse other content, apps, or videos, without disturbing the AirPlay.
iOS 12.2 and Apple Pay
Apple Pay will let users transfer money to bank accounts using their Visa debit cards. Users can also see Apple Pay credit and debit transactions right below the card in the Wallet app.
iOS 12.2 and Screen Time
The Downtime feature can have a different schedule for every other day in the Screen Time, opening users for different options while controlling different apps. Users also have a new toggle option to turn off or on app limits on a temporary basis.
iOS 12.2 and Safari
Another update brings automatic sign-in if someone has filled credentials with Password Autofill. Users can also modify the Smart Search Field in Safari with just a tap on the arrow icon next to the search suggestions.
iOS 12.2 and Apple Music
The Browse tab on Apple Music will now show more editorial highlights to make new music and playlist discovery easier.
iOS 12.2: Other features
Apple is introducing Air Quality Index (AQI) for the US, UK and India maps. Settings will also show the time remaining in your device’s warranty period. There is also a 5G E icon introduced for iPhone 8 and later as well as iPad Pro 12.9-inch or iPad Pro 11-inch users, which will be visible when you will in an area of AT&T 5G Evolution network.
